Thank you to the speakers and attendees of the 2021 Symposium, see you next year!
This symposium is a grassroots effort to have a focused conversation about the inclusion of contemplative practices into the higher education community. Research suggests that contemplative practices, such as mindfulness and similar self-reflection, can enhance students' cognitive and academic performance, stress management, emotional intelligence, and development as whole individuals—all attributes that are critical for life and career success.
"Regular practice reminds me to slow down and remember why I do what I do--and what it is I love. Because it is what I love that gives me joy." ~ A student attendee
"This class could not have been more relevant. Perfect mix of the science behind mindfulness and practice. Truly a life changer for me!" ~ A student attendee
Now in its eighth year and serving approximately 125 attendees annually, the symposium provides opportunities for those working in higher education - academic, student services, health and wellness, and administration - to engage with the shared goal of preparing students for professional, community and personal life. We are committed to providing tools for faculty, administrators and students to respond to stress in their jobs.
A financial goal is to provide access to the symposium for anyone who has an interest in this discussion. Sponsorship of this symposium will allow us to keep registration cost low and to provide scholarships. We would be grateful if you would support this symposium and help to provide access for more individuals, especially students, to help expand this conversation about the future of higher education.
