Adjunct Instructors - Philosophy

Job Description

Mount St. Mary’s University has an ongoing need for adjunct professors to teach in the Mount’s integrated, interdisciplinary core philosophy program. We are currently seeking qualified instructors to teach the following courses:

  • Foundations of Philosophy (a course covering classic texts in Ancient and Medieval Philosophy)
  • Philosophy in the Modern Age (a course covering classic texts in Modern Philosophy)
  • Ethics and the Human Good (a course covering classic texts in the history of moral philosophy)

Qualifications

A qualified applicant will have:

  • A master's degree in philosophy (required).
  • Teaching experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching (preferred).
  • Be able to work with a large constituency of students, staff, faculty, parents and friends of the university.

Mount St. Mary’s University is dedicated to providing common intellectual experiences in its core courses. As such, many of the texts studied in the philosophy courses are shared commonly across sections. Training in teaching these texts is available.
