Remote Learner’s Policy


Students who have elected to attend all classes remotely are permitted on the main campus only if they meet the following guidelines that are in place for the safety and well-being of the main campus and for those students and learning community members who have agreed to abide by daily health protocols and weekly surveillance testing.

  1. Students who are learning remotely should make every effort to conduct their business online, including financial, bookstore, financial aid, registrar and other activities. If personal face-to-face contact is required, students can consider making special arrangements to come to campus.
  2. Each request by a student who is learning remotely to visit the campus will be reviewed and a response made individually, as each circumstance is different.
  3. Remote learners need prior approval from Mallory Wishard, assistant dean of student life, before they arrive on campus, obtained by completing the Remote Learner Request Form.
  4. Students should work with Mallory Wishard to participate in the university’s weekly nose swab PCR test process. We will do our best to accommodate students’ schedules for the PCR through several options available on campus. If students are able to get a nasal swab PCR test in their community, they are welcome to do so and should share those results prior to arrival on campus.
  5. Mallory Wishard will inform Public Safety when a student is expected on campus using the Invited Visitor Form.
  6. Prior to arriving on campus, remote learners must complete the daily health survey demonstrating that they have no COVID symptoms. Students should make every effort to complete a free antigen test in their community and provide their results prior to their arrival on campus.
  7. Upon arrival to campus, remote learners must stop at Public Safety and get a temperature check and an approval “badge” to go further on campus.
