Student Requirements

Students and Seminarians

All students and seminarians taking any class on the main campus (Emmitsburg) must be “fully vaccinated”1 against COVID-19 except for those with an approved exemption for a medical reason or a strongly held religious belief and for fully remote students. Students and seminarians who do not present proof of vaccination and have not received an approved exemption will not be permitted to reside on campus, attend any in-person or blended classes or participate in athletics. Students are strongly encouraged to get a booster injection when they are eligible in order to strengthen and extend their immunity.

Students attending only the Frederick campus are strongly encouraged to be vaccinated.

Most courses at the Emmitsburg campus in Spring 2022 will be designated in-person-only (IP) or in-person-with-web-conferencing by permission (WC). Undergraduate students and seminarians who are enrolled in courses at the Emmitsburg campus are required to attend class sessions in person unless they have been granted an exception to do otherwise by the associate provost or rector of the seminary, respectively. In all traditional classroom courses, faculty will be asked to make temporary exceptions to allow students who are required to isolate or quarantine to Zoom into their classes. Students enrolled in classes at the Frederick campus should check the course schedule to see what the attendance options are for their classes.

Athletics

The NCAA and NEC are developing health and safety protocols for NCAA athletic teams. In addition to all Mount Safe policies, student-athletes and athletics staff will be required to follow NCAA and NEC protocols to be eligible to participate in their NCAA sport

Off-Campus Travel

There are no restrictions on off-campus travel; however, students and seminarians should take precautions (such as mask-wearing and frequent hand washing) when traveling. All CDC travel guidance should be followed for any domestic or international travel.

1 A person is “fully vaccinated” two weeks after their second vaccine dose in a two-dose series (Pfizer or Moderna vaccines) or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine (Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine).
